Amazing Location

Nestled in the heart of the Wye Valley, set adjacent to the world famous Tintern Abbey, The Anchor Inn is the ideal destination for those exploring the area.

Located on the English-Welsh border, we welcome visitors from all directions thanks to our great location and easy access to the motorway network – only 15 minutes from the M4 and M5 motorways.

Our unique historic location makes Tintern an obvious choice for overseas visitors who are looking to explore the heritage and history behind one of Wales’ most iconic structures. In addition, we host many visitors who are exploring the local area, given we are only 45 minutes from both Cardiff and Bristol and less than an hour from Gloucester.

Set within the heart of Monmouthshire, we are a short 20 minute drive from the historic towns of Monmouth and Chepstow, which are both great places to explore. As the entrance to Wales, those who like to explore the outdoors on foot or by bike, find us the ideal point to pause and refuel ahead of their next adventure.

If you’re looking to stay locally or want to explore what the area has to offer, we’ve put together a guide of our preferred local accommodation and top things to do in the area.
